I’m now IAAP Certified (again!)

In 2018, I have obtained both Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) and Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) by the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP) but both got lapsed in 2021 since I could not maintain CAE requirements. It wasn’t that I have not done enough work in the area of accessibility but CAE requirements was that you need to submit well in advance and due to change in jobs, lost track of a few activities and their proofs.

Since last year, I am on the IAAP India Chapter’s Advisory Council and one of my roles is to spread the work about IAAP Certifications and Membership. So I felt it’s important I hold them self while I encourage others to do so. It was easy to become a Professional Member but to re-obtain certification, it’s required to appear for respective exams again. So I just did that and so happy to have cleared my Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) exam recently and soon I will be appearing for CPACC too.

While I initially felt that it’s unnecessary for someone who works on regular basis in the area of accessibility to re-appear for exams, but later I felt it makes complete sense to refresh knowledge once in 3 years and appear such exams. While it costs little money, certainly worth it.

Glad I’m now IAAP Certified again!
