Word Press Plugin recommendation: Page Links To

I run multiple blogs including an accessibility blog and our family website but for a long time, I wanted to add all of my websites have link to each other and I was not sure how to have them appear on menu bar.

When searching over the internet, came across this Page links plugin for word press (external link). This is very simple to use.

Description from author

This plugin allows you to make a WordPress page or post link to a URL of your choosing, instead of its WordPress page or post URL. It also will redirect people who go to the old (or “normal”) URL to the new one you’ve chosen.

This functionality is useful for setting up navigational links to non-WordPress sections of your site or to off-site resources.

You can also use it to create a hand-crafted menu that links to pages, posts, categories, or anything within your site.

Installation and activation

Installation is simple. Below are the steps:

  1. Login to Word Press Admin Panel
  2. Activate “Add new” from Plug-ins page
  3. Search for “page links to” in search plugins search
  4. Once you notice Page links to plugin, click on install
  5. Once installation process is completed, click on Activate plugin and you are done

You may also download from plugins page from the link given above and install using zip file.

How to use

  1. Login to your Word Press Admin panel
  2. Click “Add new” on a new post or page
  3. Provide the post / page title
  4. Leave body field empty
  5. Scroll down and come to “Page links to section”
  6. Provide custom URL
  7. Publish

Optionally, you can provide information as to where this new page should be added in sequential order.

Other way of adding external links is to using “Custom Links” option from menus under appearance of Word Press admin panel. Thanks to my friend Rakesh Paladugula (External link) for pointing that.
